Trying to connect 6 Gemini clients to HR54

I've replaced all Genie HR54 clients with Gemini Satellite Clients.  Regardless of wired or wireless or all wireless, I can see all clients connected on the Wireless Video Bridge with "excellent" signals.  I can see all Gemini clients connected to the internet/server via the green light on the front.

Problem is, I can only get 4 clients to connect to the Genie at once.  Like playing a game of whac-a-mole.  If I reset the Genie, the first 4 clients I turn on are the 4 that are listed in the network details as "connected" and truly the last two just keep flashing that annoying circular status graphic and never connects.

Regardless of what order I start 4 devices, the last two won't connect.  I understand that the HR54 can connect up to 8 genie clients even though only 3 clients can be on at once.

Is there something about the 4k nature of the Gemini devices that limit the number of Gemini clients the HR54 maxes out at?

I need 6 active clients.  I need to figure out what the my real potential is.  How many Geminis + Genie clients can connect 6 at once.

Thanks

The HR54 can only stream to 3 clients/Gemini at a time so only 4 TVs can be in use at the same time unless you can add H25 receivers.  Only the HS17 can stream to 7 TVs but its a client only system.  The Gemini is a client.

I understand that the Genie TV and 3 clients can be used at the same time. No issue.

The problem is I'm trying to CONNECT 6 Gemini clients to the Genie (not all to be used simultaneously), but all 6 won't connect to the Genie so I can't use the 3 in combo I want to use.  Only 4 will connect.

Only a single 4K Client can be on a 4K channel at a time.

The Mini Genies must be deactivated on the account as well as removed from pairing on the Genie. Then the others can be added.

The Gemini's compatibility with the HR54 has been questionable. Since pairing the box that was original for STREAM only with the 3rd generation Genie (HR54) may have some issues.

Yes once you are at 3 Clients, it is suggested to have HDDVRs instead of a 4th Client (or more) because of tuners and recording space.

However, if you are dead set on a Client-only setup, than the Genie-2 (HS17) seems a better fit. Has 7 tuners which can all be used by Clients, 2TB space, and allows two 4K Clients using a 4K channel at the same time.

I apologize, one thing I wasn't clear on is that the Gemini's best compatibility seems to be with the Genie-2 (HS17). Just remember if you go that route, the HS17 forbids receivers/HDDVRs so you are restricted to Clients only.

Just mentioning that with getting everything working as intended that it is still the best fit for you in the long run.

Thanks Ace, I can't use the Genie 2, too many receivers, HR24s in addition to the HR54.  I guess the Geminis are so new not a lot of info.  I CAN SAY that 4 seem to work fine... It's #5 and #6 that's no bueno.  Since the HR54 theorically can handle up to 8 Clients, that the Geminis, being 4k devices are taking the network space of two Genie clients... thus why 4 will work but 5 or 6 won't?

More likely it is the WVB that is having the problem it may not have been made to handle that traffic as it was made before there was 4K. the one built into the HS17 is newer.

Glad you have those HR24s as they are more capable than the Clients.

As a note, one receiver is too many as the Genie-2 doesn't allow them at all. Until a new model, or new line, that permits receivers keep the HR54 setup.

Yes in theory up to 8 Clients can be paired with the Genie. Even if they weren't Geminis but Mini Genies, going above the 3 it can use simultaneously tends to have some issues.

The Geminis are not taking the space of 2 Clients. They each only use a single tuner. But only one Client be it Gemini or Mini Genie (C61K) can use a 4K channel at the same time. You can still be on non-4K channels on the others. So one Client on a 4K channel and two on non-4K channels still works. That has no affect on how many that can pair.

If they are connected wirelessly, perhaps as mentioned it is more than the WVB was built to handle. If that is the case, then installing another WVB is an option and could help provide better coverage by splitting the Clients into at least two groups.

Just some options as wish we knew for sure exactly why the additional Geminis are having problems communicating/pairing with your HR54.
