Trying to return hardware for a 3rd party / former subscriber
We recently helped a friend's mother-in-law relocate across country. I have her DirectTV equipment and am trying to find out what to return and where. I have two units -
Model HR44-200, serial (Edited as per community guidelines)
and
Model C61-700, serial (Edited as per community guidelines)
I also have remotes, cables and power cords.
The former customer's name is Susan (Edited as per community guidelines), former (Edited as per community guidelines). I do not have her DirectTV acct number. I believe she cancelled her service ~3weks ago.
My name is Richard (Edited as per community guidelines) and I can be reached at (Edited as per community guidelines) or (Edited as per community guidelines)
Please let me know if this equipment needs to be returned, it is 7-9yrs old, not sure you even want it back.
I understand you dont want the remotes, coax, and that there is a Fedex Post/Ship dropoff option.

Most likely the C61 needs to be returned but it doesn't hurt to take the HR44 also, if they don't take it keep it for a few months then take it to an E-waste center . Both UPS/FedEx participating stores accept returns by scanning them in and giving you a receipt, keep it. DTV generally doesn't send a box unless you are more then 10 miles from a UPS/FedEx store to be taken to the post office and you may have to call them to get it. Since you are not the account holder DTV may not talk to you.

Thought I was in a support private chat, not posting on an open forum, thanks for the scrub.
I'll try to find a direct contact or local office, I don't want to hang on to this box of gear any longer than I need to.

DTV doesn't have any local offices, you take them to a UPS/FedEx store to scan them in.
