Unable to navigate DVR menu using the Menu button on my remote
When I click the Menu button on my remote (tried both the DirecTV remote and my Harmony remote), the popup menu for navigating available programs, setting recording options, searching for programs, etc., shows up but I can't navigate it. When I push the up, down, or right buttons, I just get a "ding" noise; when I push the Left button, it goes back to the show I'm watching. Please advise.

There are many things that can cause a remote to stop responding properly. To get started we would recommend our troubleshoot your DIRECTV remote control article. To get the correct information, you will want to select the type of remote at the top. This article includes a short video, troubleshooting steps and steps to reprogram a remote.
Based on your description, it sounds like you may have a genie remote, as the left arrow is also the back arrow on those models. If this is the case, try this article to use the DIRECTV app to control your receiver.
