Use 1 set of equipment between 2 homes

I live in Ga in the winter and NY in the summer. Have 2 accounts w a Genie and mini in each one now.  Can I take the receivers from NY to Ga and not use the ones currently in Ga so that I have 1 account instead of 2? Currently in Ga there is a wireless bridge between the Genie and the mini, while in NY, there is a separate cable on the mini.

Technically, yes. Although, by doing so, you would only get the locals for NY instead of GA. If you are referring to the local market with WCBS, WABC, WNBC, and WNYW then those are available across the country so that won’t be a problem. However, if you get locals that aren’t these, you won’t be able to watch local channels in Georgia.

Your house in Georgia has a Wireless Genie mini client while your house in New York has a regular Genie mini. No problem, bring JUST the Genie HD DVR from New York as you can pair it with the Genie mini in Georgia. Clients are based off the number of them activated on an account. Therefore, they are not ‘box’ specific per-say. You can have your Genie from NY pair to any one client without a problem.

I recommend that you don’t connect the Genie from NY to the internet only because DIRECTV may find it odd your equipment is located in Georgia.

Thank you. Ultimately, I don’t want to do anything under the table so to speak.   Plus, I didn’t think about getting the local stations from NY while in Ga. Overall, it seems not worth the effort.

Thanks for the feedback.

No problem. I wouldn’t consider it ‘over the table’ since you are only using service in one location at a given time. However, at the same time, the address on the account does not agree with where your equipment is.

Thank you for reaching out, @nyybillsfan.

Let's get things clear up together. Each equipment is attached to only one account, based on the service address. You can confirm this information about DIRECTV RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMER AGREEMENT at the title: Service to Multiple TVs. Also, you can order the equipment you need into the online account, or we can give you a hand with this through PM. We'll be waiting for you!
