Using both HDMI and Optical Audio at the same time
Currently, my DirecTv streaming box is connected via HDMI to a receiver in the den, with HDMI connecting from that receiver to the TV in the den.
I'd like to use the optical audio out port from the same DirecTv box to go to second receiver in the living room so I can hear the sound from speakers in the living room powered by the second receiver.
Will this work?

I've personally never connected two audio sources from one DIRECTV STREAM box. You can definitely give it a shot since the configuration itself makes sense and should work as-is.

It usually works... if the sound cuts out, go to settings, turn off dolby, then turn it back on.

You may get more answers if you post this in the DTV via internet AKA DTV streaming forum.

Thank you for your input @gregeusa and @detuch254.
To answer your question, @Steinipoo. If by receiver, you mean AV receiver then theoretically yes it will work. but that’s a very complex setup and can result in conflict. DIRECTV appreciates you. Christian, DIRECTV Community Specialist

@DIRECTVhelp AFAIK the only DTV streaming box is the Osprey which is not an A/V receiver.
