Volume on remote
Don't know what husband did but now when he uses the volume and mute buttons on the Genie remote, a voice comes on and tells him it is on "mute" or the status of the volume (example: Volume 10, etc. while raising or lowering volume). I made sure talking guide is off but still have a voice telling us what the volume level is.

This could be an actual TV setting, not DIRECTV. What TV brand are you using? Have you tried going into the TV settings and seeing any settings for voiceover or voice?

Hello. Sometimes technology can beat the best of us. To make sure talking guide is completely off, follow the next steps to manage it:
- Press the INFO button on your DIRECTV remote.
- Press the right arrow once. A menu with options for closed captions and the Talking Guide opens.
- Press the down arrow 3 times. You’ll hear audio instructing you to press SELECT to turn the Talking Guide on. If you don’t press SELECT, the speech output stops.
- Press SELECT to activate the Talking Guide.
For more information you can follow the next link https://www.directv.com/support/satellite/article/KM1164910 Besides, just to make sure everything is correctly set up check how to manage VoiceView or TalkBack here: https://www.directv.com/support/stream/article/KM1331471

Had the exact same issue with Sony TV while using DirecTV. Resolved by using Sony TV remote, NOT DirecTV remote.
