What button can be used on the Genie remote like the Stop button on the Universal remote?
On my old receiver/DVR, the Universal remote had seven (7) buttons that could be used while watching a recorded program: Play, pause, rewind, replay, stop, advance, & fast forward. However on the Genie remote, there are only five (5) buttons that can be used while watching a recorded program: rewind, replay, stop, advance, fast forward, & the combined play/pause. How do I stop a recorded program I'm watching until I want to resume watching later? The only way I have figured out to do so is to power down the receiver, and I discovered that when there was a power failure while I was watching a recorded program. After my power was restored, I turned on the receiver, went to my list, selected the interrupted program and hit play - it started right where the power had gone off.
So what button can be used on the Genie remote like the Stop button on the Universal remote?

Thanks, Shannon, however the User Guide only says it is to exit the menus; doesn't mention any other operation. Why isn't there a chart/page that lists EVERY function of each button?

You can still use the older RC6x remotes with the newer Genie boxes. That's what I do. You just can't use RF mode.

Thanks, again. Where did you find that? The user guide I was given with the Genie receiver is more of a 18-page brochure with only a graphic of the types of remotes and minimal text describing each button.

litzdog, I tried that but preferred the RF mode over the IR mode. The receiver should be made to allow it to receive both RF & IR signals rather than either/or.

DTV changed the RF protocol with the HR44 and above rendering the RC6XR useless in RF mode for those receivers only the RC7X remotes work in RF. The RC7X remote do send both RF/IR at the same time

Even so, Shannon, they could have included code that allowed IR & RF to BOTH work in parallel at the same time. Then there could be a third option in the Remote Type screen: "BOTH IR & RF".

The HR44 and above do use both at the same time.
