whdvr freezing on remote receiver
Here is what I have found, several times the shows I record on my HDDVR do not show correctly on the remote receiver. I have had it for just shy of a month, and last weekend found that when moving the dvr that the system will freeze and lose connection. this is apparently coming from the connection to my router, there are 2 thinks connected between the dvr and the router. I didn't look at what was what, but it appears to be standard. When ever the connection is moved, it freezes and loses connection, and the remote receiver loses network connection randomly with the recorded shows. I've looked at a few of the posts that have the same sort of issues, but am not finding a real resolution to the problem.

Who installed your Whole Home DVR equipment? When?
If anything is connected to the HR24 HD DVR's ethernet port, then you don't have a proper installation. Tell us exactly how your equipment is networked together. Also, press the remote's "Dash (-)" button .... does the HD DVR echo "SWM connected"?
If this was installed only a month ago, then it's Best to call DirecTV and request a service visit. It's free if you have their Equipment Protection Plan, or within 90-days of installation. Otherwise ~$50.

It was done by a contractor, september 10th the setup is like this, a lan to the modem from the deca adapter, if that is moved signal is lost completely from the DVR from the DVR out is the dvr to power inserter, inserter to the deca ethernet cable to modem. downstairs the network is iffy at best, freezes and loses network connection and kicks back to the regular programming.

I'm not following your connection description. Since it's not even a month old, call DirecTV and get a service tech back. It's free.

standard cable in from the dish, into the power unit, out to the dvr, then out of the dvr to the deca adapter, and a lan cable out of the deca into the modem.

That doesn't make sense. There is no "out" coax connector on the DVR that can connect to the DECA. Something doesn't sound properly connected.
Please see my previous post.

you were right, it was an input on the DVR which was where the power went, the second power went to a swim the second went to the deca then a ethernet cable wout of the deca into the modem. I wound up replacing the ethernet cable and 2 of the cables, which fixed the shorting issue the deca was causing, then I red buttoned both the DVR and remote unit and for the time at least it is now working properly.

Ahhhhh, excellent troubleshooting on your part. The faulty Ethernet cable was shorting which caused the entire Ethernet system to fail. Just for your information, the streamed programming signal from the DVR to a receiver travels over the coax but in Ethernet form. The receivers all rely on the router to set the IP configuration. Thus a short in that cable can cause problems throughout the system.
Again, good job and thanks for keeping us up to date.

Well unfortunately the fix turned into a temporary one, and service is scheduled for saturday, possible bad switch or bad fittings on the line.
