Whole Home Coax to Ethernet

I hooked this to my system (which is already connected to the internet via ethernet at the STB). I did get on to my network and the internet but a speed test with a wired laptop indicated that i was getting 20 X 20. Mbps My service is 200 X20. I expected 100 X 100 with the adapter...what am I missing?

The DTV SWM internet system is only made for DTV receivers so connecting anything else is not approved and you get what you get.

First, you can't have more than one connection to the internet from the directv system . If you have, this seriously throttles your internet speed. Second, if your service is 200x20 you can't get better than this so max would be 100x20 (whole home is 100)

post back and tell us exactly what you are doing - what devices, connected to what. which adapter are you using etc etc

Understood...The HR54 is connected to my router via ethernet providing internet access on all the c-61s.

.I disconnect 1 c-61 Genie and connect in it's place a Gen 3 Whole House adapter. I connect my laptop to the adapter via ethernet (WiFi on the laptop is off). My laptop connects to my network with no issues, I can reach the internet. Basically, I'm attaching to the DTV DECA / MOCA network. I perform a speedtest and my throughput on the Whole House adapter is 20X20. The link speed is advertised at 100 up & down. So is 20 Mbps the best I can expect with the adapter on the native DECA network?

Thanks, It seems that the SWIM impletmentation is limited to 20X20 that's probably due to the limited bandwidth in the DTV ecosystem.

AFAIK DTV is still using 10/100 tbase.

Yes that is the physical link speed, which is what I expected, a 100 Mbps FDX link through the SWIM. I was hoping to hard wire an AppleTV, Smart Samsung TV and a Raspberry PI. And although 20 Mbps should work it's not acceptable. I prefer a  wire over WiFi when I can implement it.

As stated using non approved equipment on the SWM system can cause problems that you will have to fix.

I would have expected somewhere close to100/20 (you can't get better than that for upload because your internet is that speed).  Other people report getting 100Mb.

Have you completely removed the c61 from the system? The HR54 is still probably trying to connect to it.

No I intended to use a splitter and add the adapter. All 3 lights turn green also. I never see the adapter come up as a client along with the other C61s.

The adapter will not show as a Client because that is not what it is.

HR54 is the 3rd generation Genie receiver.

C61 is the newest regular (not wireless or 4K) Mini Genie Client.

Clients are extensions of the Genie receiver, no tuners or recording space of their own.

You want to connect other devices to internet, you connect to your router, not DirecTV. This is because DirecTV's system (boxes and SWM cabling) was not designed to provide internet to devices other than DirecTV itself. So use Ethernet, powerline adapter, etc. that connects to your internet router instead of DirecTV for a connection. Even getting it to work through DirecTV's cabling is not supported and is just asking to give you a poor experience.

I think I see what you are trying to do and no it won't work. You can't use the directv coax while it is still connected to the HR54. People have successfully used Directv DECA adapters on coax runs to provide an internet connection but the coax has to be connected via an adapter to your router not to the HR54. The directv MOCA and the MOCA used by your adapter interfere with each other.
