How are the receivers networked to each other... Your own Ethernet network or DirecTV's DECA? If you have a DirecTV DECA installation and you're trying to connect to the Internet through one of the receivers, that will not work.

Need more info ....

  • What HD Receivers and HD DVRs do you have?
  • How are they networked together?
  • Did DirecTV install Whole Home DVR equipment for you, or is this do-it-yourself?
  • Is WHDVR service enabled on your account?

so they do have to be networked (ethernet or DECA)

Yes, they must be networked one way or the other, but an Internet connection is not a necessity.

Assuming you have a Single-Wire Multiswitch (SWiM) system. The H & HR24s have DECA built-in, but DECA also requires SWiM. If you have a legacy dish/system, then you would need to upgrade to SWiM in order to use DECA for the network.
