Whole Home DVR does not work after install
Install yesterday by your contractor technician of HD-24 DVR and two HD boxes, but Whole Home System will not activate. Installer says it takes "up to three days" for the system to recognize Whole Home, and then call him back to location again to fix, but that does not sound right. I went into AT&T Solutions Page and tried recommended Playlist "Filter" (which solutions says set to "All"), but I do not have that option on this DVR.
Do I even have the right equipment to receive Whole Home DVR? If so, how can I activate Whole Home and why would it take up to 3 days?

Since you have a Hr24 - The other two rooms (hd -Receivers) should see the play list of the HR24 - Each receiver Named -menu-setting -whole home of each receiver.
if they are Named example Living room -Bedroom2 Bedroom3 - Then I suggest you call 1-800-531-5000
Have you recorded any dhows on the HDDVR? if NOT then the other rooms will not see anything as they only see the playlist of the HDDVR

LR(A), but cannot see them on other boxes (B) and (C). I notice community
recommendations say I should go to "Whole House" under "Settings" and
enable "Share" but I do not have that choice on the menu. Installer told me
to wait 3 days and then call if it has not been enabled. Somehow, in this
speed of light communications world, 3 days does not sound right to me. So
I have talked to ATT/Direct TV two days in a row and they ultimately say
installer must enable at time of install.
Something seems fishy! Any other recommendations?

As far as the filter goes you won't see an "all" option since you only have ONE dvr, did you try to turn on sharing from the dvr or the hd receiver? It had to be done on the dvr.

Have you gone into the HD receiver (NOT THE HDDVR) select Menu- Setting- Whole Home - Look at that menu and NAME that HD receiver . for starters. DO each room

Yes I did* try *to turn on sharing, but that is not a choice in the Menu,
I went: Settings - Whole Home -
then the left menu lists the Whole Home choices:
Name location
External Device
Status
So I hit Status, and box informs I am not "authorized" and directs me to
phone DIRECT TV. I have done so twice, each call taking 2 hours, to no
resolve.
I just had HD installation, new dish, new boxes. (I did not see install man
connect indoor new cable, only used the existing I believe. Could be
mistaken, he moved really fast.) Have one HD-24 DVR, and two HD boxes.
Those boxes in bedrooms are connected to older television sets. Do you
think that could be the prob?

Whole is "TURN ON" by Directv CSR -- it has to auth on your account - Keep calling 1-800-531-5000 -It's a software issue - You need to get someone that understands your issue at Directv

What are the model numbers of the HXX receivers? Is there an Ethernet cable connected to the HR24?

Direct TV cannot authorize my boxes for some reason and are trying to push more expensive Genie on me as a solution. HD receiver is HR24-200, yes all boxes have been named A, B, C, there is no Share/share all/see all choice in Menu - called Direct TV again, spent another hour while they tried things, but they admit they cannot fix this and want to send an installer with Genie equipment, and more cost to me.
Direct TV sold me HD Whole Home but it does not work and company solution is a higher priced get up - this sounds like a scam, and I think they scammed the wrong person. Have you had troubles too?
I believe I will make formal complaint to the FCC.
Thank you to all who suggested the reasonable and sane fixes - tried them all - be happy yours is working for now, and watch out for changes, it appears Direct TV wants everyone on newest higher priced system.

No Ethernet cable connected. Model is HR24-200.
Have tried ALL suggestions above, but as I am "not authorized" for Whole Home, the menu does not show choices folks are telling me about (Share, etc.) on any box.
Trying the phone # ACE professor recommended I take a deep breath and call, woefully it is the same Direct TV CSR/tech help line.
But I will hold on for a human and again hope to find someone who understands situation.

If that Screen Says NOT authorized - It will never work - Cost is $3 a Month - The CSR may NOT be able to add it - The Number I gave you was to the retention Department - The first line CSR When NOT being able to add it without a GENIE upgrade Should have transfered you to the "TECH" department to get it resolved and get WH (added) to your Account .
IF they can NOT do it Without Giving you a GENIE -Then You should ask for that "FREE" or have the Charge waved you are paying for the DVR service & thatShould get you WH $3 added

I think I had a good result from your phone # recc yesterday. It enabled me to get ahold of a csr in Montana (self professed many years in tech with Direct TV, knew lots of equip) who went right away to tech info in my DVR, looking for SWM info. It appears I did not have the SWM hooked up at time of install of dish outside (at least that's what csr thought), so they are sending repairman tomorrow (different guy from installer) to look it over and install part. Gee whiz wouldn't that be great if it worked? I'll update when/if something happens. Thanks for the deep breath reminder. And thank you for all your suggestions.
