Whole home DVR set-up problems
Wow. I'm shocked to read how difficult the set-up of whole home DVR is. They never even offered installation when I ordered it -- too busy making sure I was obligated for another 2 years.
Anyhow, I've got a HDDVR model HR-22-100 which is connected through a DECA. I have had the home network ethernet cable plugged into either the HDDVR or the DECA -- I get different instructions from different technical support people. In other rooms I have a model H21-100 HD receiver connected through a DECA. Here the Ethernet cable (from my home network) is plugged into the DECA. The third receiver is a H24-100. The ethernet cable is plugged directly into this receiver, and I am told it does not require a DECA.
I've seen some posts ask about green splitters. I don't have one and am not sure what these are.
The house is networked with a Powerline system.
The problem is that this whole system isn't working. When the HDDVR ethernet cable is plugged into the back of the HDDVR and I look at the System Setup|Info & Test|More System Info on the HDDVR, I get two yellow triangles:
STB Services Port:
Network: Connected
Internet:
When the ethernet cord is plugged from the network into the DECA, I see
IP Address: 169.254.9.214
subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
...
STB Services Port:
Network: Not Connected (9)
Internet:
When I go to System Setup|Whole-Home|Status, I see
"Whole Home DVR: Authorized
No Networked DVRs found.
From System Setup|Whole-Home|Status on the HD Receivers I get the message:
No Networked DVRs Found.
Can anyone help me?

you have a mess in your hands. but an easy fix. for the HR22, H21, you should have a short ethernet jumper to connect the DECA to the receivers. your home network should not be connected to the DECA's. the H24 have a built in DECA, but you need to removed the network cable and do a red button reset, this is all assuming that you have a SWM system. this way the receiver would be network together using the coax cables feeding the sat signals. green splitter are a must for WHDVR. make sure you have those. and to add internet to the system you need either the wired connection kit or the wireless. available by calling DTV or your online account.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. You're right--the fix was simple. I don't know about the green splitter: It must have been installed at some point near the switch. Fortunately, it is a SWM system, and the hook-up you suggested worked!
I just wish I had known that I didn't need to buy the powerline system!
