Whole Home DVR without internet

I am wanting to set up the whole home DVR in my house to share the content between the 2 HR23-700 DVR's that I have.  I also dont want to pay Directv $250 to do it.  I know I need 2 DECA's.  Can I set up the whole home DVR without hooking it up to my router?  I really dont need it hooked up to the internet.  We never do the videos on demand.  Is there anything else I need?

Setting up Whole Home Services is a bit more complicated then just plugging in 2 DECAs and wala. Do you have the SWM system and if its "Yes" does the splitter, LNB and power insert have a "green label" on them? If none of these match up then you will need more then just the DECA's.

Also Whole Home Services doesn't require the Internet connection for the system to work. You have it spot on with just DOD and Apps. If you don't nned them then just don't connect the Internet to the system, and don't connect a Ethernet connection from your router to the receiver it will cause issues with WHDVR.

Purchase an inexpensive Ethernet switch.  The link is the one I use.  Plug a Ethernet cable from each DVR to an open port of the switch, power up the switch and run "connect now" from the network setup menu on each DVR.  Playback will be perfect.  You'll need to get Directv to activate the service on your account after you're all connected, cost is $3 per month.

The svm does have a green label on it. So I just need the 2 decas? Do I need the ethernet switch? I will not be hooking them up to the internet.

As long as all the equipment involved in the SWM system as earlier posted, the purchase of the 2 DECA receivers will be the only thing that you need. There have been issues involving the SWM power insert in line with the DVR. The work around will be to get a SWM 2way splitter to fix the issue. If you get one of these as well you will have to take the connection that is going to the SWM power inserts red port and connect that to the new SWM 2way. Then connect the other connection that is going to your HD/DVR and connect that to the clear port of the SWM power Insert. Then getting a short RG 6 cable jumper take that to reconnect the red port of the SWM power insert to the red port on the SWM 2way that is next to the clear port. The 75 ohm terminator that you take off of the 2way splitter to gain access to the clear port should be connected to the unused port of the power insert that say's "signal to IRD". Re-booting everything by plugging back in the power insert, then each DVR and other receivers connected with at lease 10 sec. between boot up should get everything back up and running.

With the DECA's installed each one should have all 3 lights on them glowing green. Then all you will need to do is call Directv and let them know that you purchased and installed the DECA's yourself and they should be able to activate the WHDVR service with it being a supported system.

If you get it connected with the DECA's you will not need a Ethernet switch as posted by dcd. The Ethernet switch was mentioned only if you have Ethernet cables running to each DVR location.
