Whole Home issues

Receivers

A) HR20-700 HD-DVR

B) HR21 HD

C) HR24-200 with AM21 local off air receiver

Before the AM21 was connected the system would see both DVRs and allow recording/deletion from any receiver. Now it doesn't. Both DVRs are set for share playlist and allow deletion from All Rooms. The DVRs only show their own play list and the HR21 only sees the DVR without the AM21 (it has a built-in off air port).

Is there a setting with the AM21 that allows or disallows sharing? The last two boxes I have received from DirecTv had had the seals broken so the AM21 did not have any documentation.

Supprise me with a solution please.

The AM21 should not affect Whole Home DVR networking.  But resetting the DVR during the AM21 installation might have changed some of the default network settings on that DVR.

  • Is this a DirecTV installed WHDVR system using their DECA networking over the coax cables?
  • Is there an ethernet cable connected to your HR24?  There shouldn't be.
  • Have you reset the other DVRs?
  • Sometimes it takes a few hours for the DVRs re-discover each other.

I disconnected the AM21 and rebooted and I had the network again. I've reconnected it and waiting for the download. I suspect this was self inflicted when I messed with the ethernet.

I can not use the ethernet on the HR24, correct?

Thanks for the prompt response!

Yup, pilot error... At least I'm seeing the HR20 now so I suspect it sees the HR24 and all is well now.

So the only outstanding question is the ethernet.

Thanks,

Greg

Right, you cannot use the DVR's ethernet port.  If you want to connect your WHDVR networked equipment to your home network/internet, you need DirecTV's Cinema Connection Kit. This kit provides the installer with a DECA Broadband Adapter and power supply that "bridges" the WHDVR network (DECA coax) to your home network/internet (ethernet).
