Whole House DVR setup

Ok, this is the situation. I wired my whole House (As Dtv's installers suck) myself. My setup to date is as follows:

1-HR20-100 HD DVR Box (Wired with Dtv's wireless Internet Rx/Tx...soon to be hard wired to my router)

4-HD21-200 HD Boxes

1-D11-100  Standard Def Box

I have a 5 LNB Slimline dish and an 8 port "out" MultiSwitch.

WHAT is required to get whole house DVR with my 1 HD-DVR box? What additional equip./cabling do I need to run? I REALLY hate the yahoos they send to work on my system and have all the necessary signal strength meters/tools to cable myself as the installer didn't even own a SS meter. I know when I called Dtv they said it costs $99 to do whatever it is that is necessary, but would rather do it myself and basically need an understanding of what is necessary to run and if the equip. I already own is compatible or if they have newer boxes for the whole house setup.

Many THANKS in advance for any info you have!

Regards,

Ken

To start with you have two basic options. Connect all of your HD receivers to your network and have DirecTV enable Whole Home. DIY networking can be problematic however and you'll get no support from DirecTV if you go this route.

The second option is to use the new DECA network, either by installing it yourself or by having DirecTV do it. At a glance what you'll need to do for DECA is replace your dish (LNB) with a SWiM version and the appropriate splitter and power inserter; install DECA modules at each of your HD receivers plus another one to connect to your router/internet; and upgrade the D11 to a D12 for SWiM compatibility. My guess is it will cost you around $300-$400 dollars to do what DirecTV will do for $150.
