Whole house with HR20/700?

If i were to purchase a HR 24 could I use my current HR20/700 and H20 HD receivers as satellite receivers or would I need to purchase new receivers to get all the benefits of the whole house system?

Your HR20, yes.  Your H20, no.  The H20 HD Receiver has no ethernet/network connectivity.  If you get the WHDVR upgrade from DirecTV, they'll replace that H20 with a WHDVR-compatible HD Receiver for no additional cost as part of the upgrade.

OK, thanks for that info. I currently have my whole house wired with coax...do I also need to run Ethernet to each receiver?

No.  That's the beauty of DirecTV's new WHDVR installation.  They can use your existing coax cables to network the boxes together.  They'll provide the necessary hardware and installation as part of the upgrade, all for one price .... $99 + $49 installation.  That's about the same price as replacing your old H20 with a compatible HD Receiver.
