wireless connections for whole home?
I have whole home dvr and currently have connection to the router via the coax cables in my house. There's an adapter box that converts the coax cable to a CAT 5 cable/plug that goes in to the router and that's how the whole home service talks to each other.
I want to use the coax cables in the house differently now (to get a better internet provider) and connect the HD DVR rece3iver and the other receiver to the router via a wiress connection but a Direct TV customer service rep told me that wouldn't work.
I called with a question about my bill originally so I'm a little skeptical of the information I got. Thought I'd check here.
Can you connect to your router wirelessly and still have whole home DVR???
Thanks!

Wireless networking networking will not work for Whole Home DVR sharing. It can, however, work for the "adapter box" (Cinema Connection Kit) that bridges the WHDVR coax DECA network to your home ethernet network.

Kind of sounds like you are miss informed on how the WHDVR system works. The communication in between each receiver is done within the SWM system and not your router, even though your router does play a part in it for the Directv Cinema plus and also Media Sharing, TV Apps and a bit more as well. Like litzdog911 explains that you can replace the DECA BB with the Wireless DECA and it can be placed any where with in the Satellite system allowing the Internet connection to be sent to the system through the wireless link.
