Youtube with the new GUI
I have two recievers I have the new hr24-500 in my living room and an hr23-700 in bedroom. I downloaded the new gui on both recievers last night and let them update the data overnight. I got up this morning and went to check on them. everything was working like the on demand and apps even the internet connection was good but no youtube. I went to my living room reciever and forced a download again this afternoon on the hr24-500 and went back to the old guide on that reciever. left it go for two hours or so and came back to it and the youtube was back. my hr23-700 in my bedroom still has the new guide on it and still no youtube. the software update was 058d. I was only able to download the new guide after 11:30pm est. My question is If anybody has had any problems with youtube on the new hd guide and if youtube will work on it?

First, you have downloaded the beta test version of the software not the national release of the new HD GUI, and DirecTV does not provide any support for this. People who are not members of the CE test team should NOT download the beta software, because it can have all sorts of issues that can screw up your DVR. If you want to comment on issues with the beta test software, go to dbstalk and sign up for the CE program, and then post there.

Ok thank you that was what i wanted to know. so when the final version comes out youtube should work on it then? I can download the older guide on the one in the bedroom tomorrow then. I used to beta test for aol in my younger years and remember all the bugs in the software on that.

Try going to Parental Controls and look for "allowing downloads" or something like that, it's been a long time since I had to do it.

Just read that You Tube is under "Extras" in the new GUI.

I was able to go back to the original guide software 0x4db om my hr24-500 but I can't get the beta of the new gui off the hr23-700. Is there any specific way I can go back to the original software on that reciever? Like any specific time to try and force a download? Or, If I just let the reciever go Will it eventually download the final release of the new hd guide on it's own? I just want it to be fully funtional again. Only thing that is not working on it right now is still the youtube search.

After you have reverted to the old GUI it can take a couple of days for you to get youtube back.
If you just leave the receiver alone it will download the final release of the new GUI when it is designated for your receiver. It could take a couple of months for DirecTv to complete the rollout of the new GUI to everyone.
If you force a download on your HR23 during the day or early evening it will revert to the old GUI.

Ok, I can live with it since everything else works on that reciever. I will say this to anybody else on here who is rerading this. NEVER FORCE A DOWNLOAD TO YOUR RECIEVERS!!!! You might end up with something you can't revert back to! texasbrit. Thanks for your input the past two days!

Sorry, I follow this stuff all over the web and it was just a comment someone made when discussing the new guide, don't remember but probably at dbstalk or satguys.
