Contacting DirecTV by phone

Does DirecTV have a phone number to contact them? I've been waiting for chat contact response for over 30 minutes. This is ridiculous.

Yes, number is in my greeting below. Do you have DIRECTV satellite or DIRECTV STREAM? I ask because you have to tell the robot that you are calling about the product ‘DIRECTV STREAM’ when it asks about the service you have.

@LeePell

Their support hours were 8am to Midnight EST. Now it appears they are until 10pm EST, assumedly because of the short staffing since the pandemic.

DIRECTV phone numbers

Billing & Account

Everyday 8am-10pm ET

Make sure you call the traditional DirecTV number as it is the AT&T side that has more traditional business hours. Hold times can still be long with the short staffing of course.

Just because TV is 24/7 doesn't mean they have a workforce that never sleeps. It is entertainment, not critical services like a hospital, fire departemnt, or the police.

Thank you. Much appreciated. It is streaming. I wouldn't even have it if it weren't for AT&T screwing me just 1 month after I signed up with streaming services with them. No notice whatsoever that DirecTV was taking over their streaming services. I've had DirecTV in the past, and swore I'd never have them as a provider again. Boy did I get F'd over.

Now I'm moving, and want to cancel the whole thing and can't seem to reach a live person.

The streaming service was DIRECTV NOW then AT&T TV NOW and is now DIRECTV STREAM. AT&T owns DirecTV so it is all under them, but yes with the new co-owner it is being spun off to its own management (with AT&T retaining 70% ownership).

AT&T seems to be making a conscious effort to destroy DirecTV and DirecTV Stream, not just spin it off.  There are very limited support hours if you are having a problem.  When the product is not working, you certainly do not want to have to call during business hours of 9 AM eastern time to 6 PM.  that is just insane for a 24/7 product.

@Juniper - AT&T doesn't own DirecTV.  The spin-off happened 14 months ago.  So AT&T doesn't exert direct management control and hasn't for over a year.  The AT&T phone number you list is AT&T, not DirecTV, and I''m not sure where the other number you and @detuch254 show comes from (I assume it was valid at some point in the past), but the support link you provide doesn't show it - it shows the number I list below.

@LeePell - you could have blamed the support issues on AT&T back then (and they certainly deserved blame) but right now if you have support issues, blame DirecTV, not AT&T - they are separate companies.  The DirecTV support phone number - according to their web site - is 844.335.2390, with billing and account support during the quoted 8am-10pm ET, but tech support 24/7.

@Jrandomuser 800-531-5000 has been active since the start of DIRECTV and has been made to integrate DIRECTV STREAM customers as well if the customer says they are calling about the product ‘DIRECTV STREAM.’ I know there are dedicated numbers for DIRECTV STREAM so I will simply link the support page next time for stream customers to call.

@Jrandomuser

The number I post is DirecTV's original phone number before AT&T acquired them. It is still in use and the one I use anytime I call. I post both the DirecTV and AT&T numbers in case others have questions for both sides and to help them minimize transfers. I will add in the STREAM number as well, but will not remove the other while it is still in use.

To my understanding AT&T retains 70% ownership, but is having the new co-owner mange DirecTV. They didn't completely give it up.

Try full senetences. Would you not say more if you walked up to a tech?

Also start a fresh thread as it seems your has absolutely nothing to do with this one. Make sure to post in the correct section.

HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! It is non-existent.  At&T sells you the service, but has no responsibility or accountability if they screw it up.  Direct TV won't give you options because AT&T sold you the wrong thing, so you're just screwed.  I signed up for Direct TV stream through AT&T; they sold me the boxes (which I didn't need and have never used) on an installment plan to purchase them - I wasn't given an option to lease and it was never explained to me.  I repeatedly asked about the $10/month charge and was told it was 'rental' for the wi-fi receivers (?)  Now, when I've moved and want to cancel my service 16 months into the contract, they want to charge me $80 for the boxes that I didn't need in the first place.  PLUS, I find out I've paid $160 toward purchase of boxes.  What the (Edited per community guidelines)?  This was never explained to me - I have smart TV's!  Why in the world would I purchase wi-fi receiver boxes for a service I may not keep?  RIDICULOUS!  THIS IS A JOKE!  I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER AT&T PRODUCT OR DIRECT TV PRODUCT!
