DIRECTV Stream (no contract)
Considering DirecTV stream (no contract) and cancelling YouTube TV. Is the Choice package $115 +$15 sports pac per month? Seems like $564 more per year for the service is a little high. But I could be misreading the offer.

You can't compare price until you compare what networks you are getting, in the packages. You can buy packages for a lot less, but they also contain a lot less and may contain networks that some people don't care about. The best way to choose a package is to sit the family down and make a list of the networks everyone wants. Then compare the different providers packages to see which ones contain the most networks your family have chosen.
Just comparing prices is not the best way to pick a provider.

Thanks for your suggestion, we already did that and chose the CHOICE package (has the stations we prefer) ; but the offer is a little confusing as to price.

Just a note regarding the Sports Pack because too often people misunderstand what it actually provides and get it and find out it doesn't have what they want or are allowed.
Sports Pack includes over 35 Regional Sports Networks. It does not get around blackout rules. If a professional game is out-of-market, you cannot watch it. If the game is on a local channel in your market than you cannot watch it on the RSN, even if DIRECTV STREAM doesn't have that exact local.
Choice and higher you get your in-market RSNs. So no need for the Sports Pack just for those.
Out-of-market games are watched on a seasonal sports subscription, such as NBA League Pass, NHL Center Ice, MLS Direct Kick, or even the NFL Sunday Ticket that YouTube has exclusive rights to.

I'd update that info:
NBA League Pass
NHL Center Ice...I'm not sure if this is still around or it may be on some providers. ESPN+ has the out-of-market games which gets confusing for some people since it also has exclusive games on a national basis similar to the ones on ESPN. (Someone who lives in Seattle would get Kraken games that are exclusive on ESPN+ but not the ones on ESPN Power Play which is the name for their package of out-of-market games.)
MLS games are on MLS Season Pass which is exclusively on the AppleTV app. Subscribers to AppleTV+ get a discount. MLS season ticket holders got it included with their season tickets the last two years. Some games are simulcast on national TV with different graphics and announcers. There are no blackouts on MLS Season Pass.
Baseball and basketball remain the same as they've always been with app packages and packages sold through TV providers.
NFL Sunday Ticket is as you said.

Thanks for any updates. I was just using those as an example for the explanation.
Main point, Sports Pack does not include out-of-market professional games or those that might be on a local (even if TV provider doesn't carry specific local).
Yes still around: https://www.directv.com/insider/nhl-center-ice-on-directv/

Local RSN's are included with Choice. No need to pay an extra 15 dollars for the sports pack

There's two groups of people who would benefit from the Sports Pack.
1) People who need channels which are nationally-broadcast without blackouts. These channels may include channels like MLB Network, Golf Channel, NBA TV, NHL Network, Tennis Channel and NFL RedZone.
2) People who are fans of distant pro teams. For example, a Red Sox fan living in Los Angeles may want to watch pre-game, post-game shows and highlight shows on the Red Sox's RSN. Games would be accessible via MLB Extra Innings.
I once heard that if someone had the DirecTV Sports Pack AND Extra Innings, they could watch the game on the team's RSN without changing channels. They could watch the pregame show and the game would air on the same channel. I don't know if this is still true or if it's even true on DirecTV Stream in 2024.

My husband is a big NFL fan. Do I need the sports pac to get NFL network (which I believe is where quite a few games are on)?

The website lists what networks are included in your subscription based on what package you selected based on your home billing zip code. Suggest you review offerings.

To be sure on channels: https://streamtv.directv.com/channels/
NFL Network (212) is on Choice and higher.
Be aware if he wants the NFL Sunday Ticket for out-of-market in-season games, that will be through YouTube's option instead.

be aware that this really isn’t a no contract, month to month service. There are stipulations and it only works in their favor.

It is not contract if you get DIRECTV STREAM. However if you get DirecTV via Internet then you are obligated for 24 months or pay an Early Cancellation Fee based on how many months were left.
The big difference is STREAM is a bring your own device (BYOD) model, but the other is setup similar to traditional DirecTV (satellite) where they provide you their proprietary equipment instead of you going out and buying your own.
No matter what service you get, with any company, there will always be Terms of Service. There are always some rules or stipulations. You don't get a service rule-free.

What if all of the terms of service are not disclosed to me. What if some important information about auto pay monthly charges is missing from DirecTV stream terms and policies. Also I dont have any equipment. I was receiving DirecTV stream via Roku app. My concern is why would I be charged for a month to month no contract service if I didn’t pay for a month. My last payment was in oct. my nov payment failed due to insufficient funds in nov and now it’s dec21 and I was charged. I was referred to read the terms and policies for service. And part of the policy is missing. An important part of the policy. (Is there way to post screenshots for reference or a way to directly message you)

Roku is an example of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). You are using 3rd party equipment, not DirecTV's own streaming-box.
Your payment in November declined for insufficient funds and you are wondering why there is a charge in December? As I understand a failed payment would end up putting the account in suspension, not canceling the account completely or turning off autopay. Not a case of insufficient funds, do nothing, and nothing else happens.
To discuss your account you have to call them. However make sure you are reviewing DIRECTV STREAM's specific Terms of Service/policies, but their general ones as well (some policies are covering all their services).
