DTV streaming device with fioptics TV

I'm thinking of changing from DTV to Fioptics TV.  I downloaded the fioptics app to the DTV streaming device.  When I turn on the streaming device it always opens with DTV.  If I no longer have a DTV account, would I be able to get to my apps?

In theory the device should continue to function as a streaming device even without any DirecTV service. Though that hasn't worked for all. So just be prepared if it stops working (or doesn't work at all) after you no longer have DirecTV to get a different streaming device.

Yes, with Gemini air you have access to all the apps you want. We'd like to keep you with the DIRECTV family. Lest's meet at DM to check what saving options we have available for you. Duvan, DIRECTV Community Specialist

According to the DirecTV Terms & Conditions for the device, even after you cancel your service, you are supposed to be able to continue to use your previous login credentials to get to where you can switch to the app library.  I haven't seen reports from anyone that actually did this (perhaps not surprising, since they would no longer have a DirecTV account, so no real reason to report here).  However, the device and its firmware were specifically targeted at the DirecTV service, so even if it works it would likely be less convenient to use in that mode than a generic streaming device.
