How do I edit my Forums comment?

I want to edit a post I made earlier, but the 3 dots do not offer the edit option.  Am I missing something?

Click the 3 dots beside your comment - select edit.

@bcbsncjlj Is there a time limit?  I want to edit a post from several weeks ago that is under a different user name that for some unknown reason was blocked then reinstated.  When I hover over the 3 dots all it get is "Copy Link".  I can get Edit while using this tread.

Yes, there's a time limit to edit posts. I think one hour, but not 100% sure.

...and if the post is closed, you can not edit.

Unless you know a forum does not have a time limit, I would expect in most places you cannot edit from several weeks ago. At that point you accept whatever you've put out there.

If you need to clarify or correct info, then you reply in the thread, or if thread is closed but you really feel the need to continue or restart discussion you start a new thread.

Though if account was reinstated, why not post on your original account since you have been able to log back in? (how I assume you know for certain you are not blocked).

Well that answers that.  Thanks everyone.  I see that I cannot edit an earlier post on this thread from 4 hours ago.  I guess every edit I have made in the past has been within the allotted time limit, whatever that might be.

If the edit was for accidently posting personal info (name, contact info, etc.) that the system and mods didn't catch we can mark it for review. But beyond that we are restricted to the small window for typos. After that it is another post to add or clarify info.

Glad you got the relevant answer. Forums are around if you need them again.
