Max app not working with DirecTV stream provider login.

The Max app on my iPad was connected through my DirecTV account.  It completely got logged out and now is asking me to create a new account through my streaming provider.  I was told by DirecTV support yesterday that this issue was being worked on.  

Is this issue fixed yet?

I have DIrect TV with a dish, not streaming. The Max app won't let me login. Asks me to create a new account, which will double my charges. Direct TV says they are working on a fix. Hasn't worked since Oct 28! It's now Dec 6, still not working. It's been out 5 weeks.

as has been noted here, you can go ahead and create a "new" account using the same email address. if you're lucky, the Max system will catch it, let you know and you are good to go. if not and the app shows you have two, simply call Max's support (use the web support system to get the number) and tell them you want to remove the duplicate (older) account. that's what i did and everything is fine.

FYI, they told me it won't double your charges, but it's good to have the duplicate removed anyway.

The separation of AT&T from DirecTV is causing some account linking issues. You may have to chat with Max support so they can delink themselves from your DirecTV account completely and then link them fresh. This is affecting many of both DirecTV (satellite) and streaming-only customers.

I myself was affected this week. Took a few minutes with Max support and got it working again. Hopefully for those this happens to that it is just a one-time bug from the company separation and will be good going forward once re-linked.

Thanks for responding.  I thought that would be the solution.  I'll wait until tomorrow to call them.  Do you happen to have the MAX Customer Support phone number handy?

Spoke with MAX Support today.

Had to uninstall & reinstall MAX app, go through create MAX account creation process after selecting DirecTV as provider and use DirecTV credentials for MAX account created.  Didn't work 1st login attempt, but did work 2nd login attempt.

If you can access your HBO channels on your DirecTV or DIRECTV STREAM service, then you are getting the service delivered through your provider.

An issue on accessing the programming through the Max app itself, not DirecTV's owned services even if they link back to your provider, does not warrant a credit. That has been the way these companies address this type of situation over the years.

However the fix with max support usually only takes a few minutes or so. Even if a bit longer, it should all be taken care of in a short enough time that no credit is needed for a temporary hiccup.

Since the cause is AT&T separating from DirecTV, essentially a migration issue, this should just be a one-time issue and not happen again.
