This Company is Full of Apologies but has ZERO Empathy

I used to be a proud DIRECTV customer - no more. I chatted with a DIRECTV representative twice today, as well as, one person purporting to be a manager. I was merely trying to get a two-day extension on my DIRECTV Stream bill. I have been a DIRECTV customer for well over 10 years and was provided with scripted answers and apologies with zero attempt to understand my situation.  The only answer I was given was either pay my bill by the 28th or it will be disconnected. They were gracious enough to tell me as long as I paid it by the following month, my service would be restored. Never once was I asked why. I did get a lot of insincere apologies. This used to be a great company - NO MORE!

While payment arrangement is not an option for our streaming service, DIRECTV understands that life happens. That's why we thought ahead. You can still enjoy your service for a full three days even if you miss your due date (except In-app purchase via Amazon or Roku). We appreciate your 10 years of loyalty.  Charles, DIRECTV Community Specialist

DirecTV and DIRECTV STREAM function differently. The STREAM service does not have a payment arrangement option. It is pay or don't get service. Streaming services (of many companies) don't have the same allowances as traditional pay TV services.

Agents asking why you were wanting an arrangement doesn't change how the options work. No matter how much empathy the agent has it doesn't do anything to change how the billing works.

Yes life happens, but in the end pay TV is luxury entertainment. Regardless of your reasons for the financial issues, TV service is one of the last things that should get you riled up when you don't have it.

No apology, just a realistic perspective from another customer. Hope whatever the issues are at home get sorted out.

My comment stands! Three days, because sometimes life happens! I sincerely hope it never happens to you; but, if it does - I hope you’re working with a company who gives a (Edited per community guidelines)!

Doesn't matter 3 days, a week, or 1 day. The reps cannot create an option that doesn't exist. This is not like water or electric, just TV.

And I very well know life happens. I wouldn't flip out because my TV is off. There are way more important things. I've had several happen in this last year that if I had to turn off TV for a few months wouldn't be a blip on the radar.

You got food, a roof over your head, etc.? Then 3 days without TV is just be resilient and move on. If you've got access to a OTA antenna, plug it in and enjoy the free locals. Nothing to get bent over shape about.

Juniper - I appreciate your comments! You make my point perfectly! The fact that there would be NO option demonstrates why no one should do business with an organization such as DIRECTV. As for whether or not I have food on the table - and TV being a luxury - perhaps you shouldn’t comment on that which you know nothing!

Food on table and worse, oh I know. Even helping a family member out right now, which is just one of a series of events.

My point is that you are not the only one who has to deal with some sort of hard times. And mentioning food and roof over the head as those are things to be worried about, not going a couple days with the TV set off.

And I wouldn't expect different from most streaming providers, not just DIRECTV STREAM. In the day and age of electronic finances where it is usually quicker and easier for to manage their own. then the service providers are tilting the financial responsibility back to the consumer.

Unless you need your TV to live, I say relax and find something else to do for a couple days. Read a book, take a walk, socialize with your family or whatever else you enjoy. Your existence shouldn't revolve around your TV. This appears to just be making a mountain out of a mole hill.
