best device for DirecTV stream?

So chromecast, Roku, appleTV, fireTV, or directv stream box... and like 4 variants of each of them.

I am hesitant to lock into a $120 directv box should I ever switch.

My biggest concern is responsiveness. I hate lag

I have no apple devices, so hesitant to pick up an appleTV, plus its expensive...

Thoughts and reasons for the best option?

First you will always have some lag at some point. After all its the internet and there are no guarantees.

As for the device, its just a personal preference. Everyone has their preference but it may not be yours. They all work. I prefer either Roku or Fire Sticks because I travel a lot in my RV and take the device with me and use the service where ever there is a internet connection.

I have DirecTV Stream boxes, Rokus and FireSticks on our TVs. They all work well. I like the DirecTV Stream box because the remote has more functions and operates essentially the same as my old satellite boxes. But the Roku is more convenient when we're traveling on our RV.

Dtv Stream box is the fastest --in my opinion. You can get a refurbished one with a 1 yr warranty from Dtv for 49.99

The DIRECTV STREAM box does support Dolby Digital. Why are you spamming threads claiming it doesn't?

It's all a personal preference. As for lags - it uses the internet, and lags can always happen.

Where does it say "surround sound" only? The DirecTV Stream box has settings for both "stereo" and "digital" in its Audio Setup menu.

In the settings. Audio.  Says stereo or surround ... Thanks for the link to the manual.. clearly says DOLBY AUDIO which is only surround sound..

"Surround" = Dolby Digital

"Stereo" = 2-ch PCM audio

I can confirm this on my AV Receiver with the DD5.1 Audio indicator and my own ears. If the station provides DD5.1 digital surround, then the C71K will deliver it via its HDMI and digital audio outputs.

How are you determining that "Surround" is not providing digital audio?

That is Dolby Digital. What about yours is not working to where you think it isn't?
