Can you use DTV Stream in multiple households?

Can you use DirectvStream in multiple households? I want a streaming service for myself and my brother with local sports channels (namely MSG) but the only other provider carrying it is FuboTV and they don’t allow you to use more than one device hooked up to a TV at once (outside of your home wifi).

Hello sushil87. About your question, DIRECTV STREAM customers can stream at the same time any amount of compatible devices on their in-home network. Also, enjoy up to 3 streams simultaneously on a mobile or streaming device away from their home network. Only two out-of-home streams can be on compatible devices connected to a TV. Also, customers can enjoy the MSG network and stream it On-the-go on two devices connected to a TV. Laura, DIRECTV Community Specialist.

To answer your question, Yes, you can use Directv Stream in more than one household I am currently sharing with 2 other households.  They only have 1 TV per household but they are ok with that.  You are allowed 3 streams outside of your home network 2 of which can be TVs your third stream would be for a phone/tablet/computer.  So if you only plan to share with your brother he would be able to have 2 TVs. This is a nice feature as it can help reduce the cost of your bill if you plan to share the cost.  I split my bill 3 ways making my service much more affordable which helps me and those I am sharing with.

I have DirectTV in my home but only able to watch on 2 tv's at the same time.  What is prohibiting me from watching on multiple tv's?

@susanconley What are you using to stream?  It sounds to me like your home network has not been set.  You do this through settings but some devices do not give the option for this to be set.

That is your internet provider. What streaming device are you using?

AT&T, Direct TV.  One Hulu tv, one Amazon tv and one regular smart tv.

To be limited to only 2 streams would indicate the service thinks you are not located in your home location but traveling. If this is the case, then your internet provider has changed your IP location of your modem to reflect a location outside  of your home residency.

Oh, interesting.  Thank you for that information.  I will check with Spectrum. Thank you very much.

That is the only case that DirecTV Stream would limit your number of streams.

So I could connect one Gemini-AIR in one location(to a TV) and my other Gemini-AIR in my 'upstate' remote location(to a TV) and leave them there without creating issues with my account?  How would locals on each be handled? One zip code would be maybe 25438 and the other likely 12459, one is a Washington DC market and the other I'm not real sure.

If your device has location services or GPS (Gemini has location services), then you will have the traveling location local channels. It's not perfect in all cases, but should work. It does for me and others.

Explain please this 'location services' - I believe I understand but I thought 'locals' were billing address locked. Does the Osprey box also use or can use location services. Is that something that can be 'toggled' on/off etc? How does a VPN effect these location services.

I did a 5 day trial and I'm having a terribly hard time separating myself from my TiVo w/CableCARDs.  I was quite pleased with the speed of the Gemini-AIR, most of the other functions and PQ was certainly better than what I get with TiVo w/CableCARD.

**** What happens for 'locals' if I were using an AppleTV or other streamer?
