CW71K-400 4K Content

When using this box with streaming services that offer me 4K content, I never get served the 4K version, just the regular HD stream. My Vizio E43 TV is 4K and I'm on 1Gbps fiber and a wired connection to the DTV box.  Display is set to 3840x2160p.

One of the things I've read talks about needing an HDMI cable that supports the most current standards.  Does anyone know if the cable that came with the box meets those requirements?

Also, my TV does not support HDR, could that be the reason?

@litzdog911   The forum shows you replied to this post but I don't see it.  Did you decide you did not like your answer and deleted it or did the forum eat it?

I thought I had an answer for your question, but it was wrong, so I deleted my response. I don't have a 4K TV, but I would assume that the HDMI cable that came with the C71K supports 4K. You could, of course, try a different HDMI cable. None of the DirecTV Stream channels are 4K, so I assume you're trying to stream 4K video from some other streaming service?

Wait, I didn't think you had wrong answers!  😁

Yes, Amazon Prime (our Netflix account is still just HD).

I have other cables to try but cannot seem to get HDMI version numbers from the limited (or no) markings on the cables.  Maybe I can borrow a known one from a family member since this is more of a curiosity than a driving need at this point.  The PQ on the Stream box is excellent in "just" HD.

What 4k content are you thinking you should get---but you aren't?

Not everything on Prime video etc is 4k just depends on the show. With Netflix you have to subscribe to their Premium plan to get 4k but only some shows are in 4k.

I use the search on Prime and just enter "4K".  It then shows all the content that comes in 4K.  When I go to choose one I make sure it says it is UHD.
