DirectTV Never received Streaming box returned by store

I JUST got a $110 charge for a DirectTV Stream box that was returned IN PERSON to a store the same day my trial service was cancelled.  I probably had the service less than a week.  Returned on 4/20, charged today 5/1.  Called customer service and they asked when I returned it and to provide tracking.  I gave them the date, but the store returns multiple boxes at once and doesn't provide tracking or ANY kind of receipt that the box was dropped off.  All tracked by phone number - even after asking MULTIPLE times for some kind of confirmation.  They just dont give anything. So here I am being charged for something that was dropped off properly and on time, with no recourse because the stores give no tracking, and DTV won't honor a return without?? Do I have any options other than just calling my credit card company to dispute the charge?

Stopped in at the ATT store to see if I could get proof of return.  Got to the bottom of the issue.  They never sent it.  Still in the store.  Sooooooo, there's the problem.  Taken care of / straightened out.

Well, your issue and the reason why you are being charged is that you did not return your box correctly.  The reason they are asking for tracking is that you were supposed to return the box using USPS,  UPS, or FedEx.  Returning it to an AT&T store is not how you return the box.  They have no way to verify that you returned the box to them and most are independently owned and operated.  They may have accepted your box as a return but they gave you nothing to verify this return so you now have no proof of return.  Because of this, you are stuck with the $110 bill.  What baffles my mind is why would you walk away without proof of return when Directv/AT&T deals with millions of people every day and they don't care about your word they care about their products/money and getting paid for them.

Correct - it was an ATT store.  They said if I was unhappy for any reason bring the box back there and they will credit / cancel for me.  I was VERY uncomfortable returning with no receipt, but not given any other option at the time.  I did however take a pic of the side of the box and the saleswoman who took it from me.  Going to the store tomorrow in person and will get to the bottom.

Glad to hear you sorted it out without having to go through the hassle of a BBB complaint
