No, the Choice package for Directv Streaming does not include VCR service, but it however does include unlimited cloud DVR service. With the DVR service, you are able to record an unlimited number of recordings, although you can only record about 30 episodes of any one show, and you have 9 months to watch your recordings before they will be automatically deleted.
Right. The term VCR recording hasn’t been used in awhile. That refers to the old days when a VCR was attached to a cable/satellite box over usually composite. It would then record whatever the cable/satellite box showed in SD (poor quality).
These days, cloud DVR refers to recording stuff in the ‘cloud.’ DIRECTV STREAM has the necessary equipment rather than the customer to get recordings stored. Server rooms contain many hard drives to handle our recordings. Whereas, a VCR was essentially the customer’s equipment and they were in charge of recording.
With CLOUD DVR unlimited, you don’t have to worry about any sort of storage limit, recording issue, etc. Just buy a streaming device, get a subscription, and with a few clicks you can record your show.
You cannot get VCR with DirecTV. They don't use video cassettes. Remember VCR is not a service but was a piece of equipment to connect to your TV.
DVR is Digital Video Recorder. Any recording options with DirecTV (satellite TV) or DIRECTV STREAM are done digitally. They don't use removable media like video cassettes. VCRs haven't been made for years.

Thanks for the info. Are you certain of the unlimited vcr to cloud? We've gotten conflicting information. Do you need additional equipment for this?

It's called Cloud DVR (not VCR) And you don't need additional equipment. You can access the DVR list via their apps or Dtv Stream box.
