Yes. 2 different subscription services. They share the same app. With DirecTV Stream you bring your own device. The proprietary box with channel numbers is not available but can be purchased thru 3rd party vendors.

Technically yes. They are not interchangeable. A subscription is required for each service. DirecTV Via Internet is for those who can not use a dish but have a broadband internet connection and want the experience of a cable like experience. DirecTV Stream (bring your own device) is their original streaming service to compete with streaming services like YouTube TV, Philo, or Hulu TV.

While the 24-month agreement provides you with a 24-month Price Lock on your programming, the exciting new Gemini Air device, and exclusive promotional offers for premium channels. Plus, you are free to make changes to your programming at any time. In return, DIRECTV asks that you keep your programming for 24 months. These are only applicable to DIRECTV via Internet service.
