Loading applets into app library

Right. DIRECTV STREAM is yet to add support for Apple TV on their Osprey boxes. You may try sideloading Apple TV by finding an APK online and downloading it. However, this is not recommended because some inexperienced users end up getting a virus or a buggy application. 

Thanks to both for your insight.   My tv is rather old,  so if I get a new ‘smart’ tv with Apple installed I should be ok,  right?  Otherwise I will need to reinstall my Apple TV device and choose it as the input to view Apple programs,  right?

Hope you bought a supported Smart TV that DirecTV Stream supports? And if it's a Samsung, good luck! That app is notorious for issues. Best to always use a external streaming device.

Haven’t bought it yet, but your feedback on the Samsung is greatly appreciated.  I retired from the computer and internet industry 6 years ago and find it challenging to keep up with the streaming and video industry.   Thanks to folks like the three of you it helps me keep from taking wrong and frustrating directions around purchases and operational challenges.   Thanks to all for supporting and providing theses user forums.
