Directv app failure

Can you fix this app so i don't have to uninstall and reinstall EVERY day?  I need to uninstall the app, power cycle my phone, reinstall the app, cycle power on my modem and router, login to the app, connect to the dvr and hope it actually finds it, select a show to watch, click watch, let it get set up and OPPS! It locks up my phone with "Directv has stopped ".  My phone is locked. Dead. Can't even press the power button to restart.  I need to PULL THE BATTERY to get out of fault message.  Thank God I can still do that on my old phone.  I would gladly pay 20 bucks for a 'working' version of the app.  I guess that's why it's free - it doesn't work....
