NFL Sunday Ticket on Fire Stick - cannot login

I just bought the streaming version of NFL Sunday Ticket.  I can login fine on my PC where I signed up, and also on my IPad.

My intention is to watch it on my regular TV with an Amazon FireStick.  On the Fire Stick, it tells me the user id and password is not found.  I have a Roku device too, and I get the same error of not having a correct user id and password.  I am 100% sure I have entered the correct userid and password - the same one that works on my PC or IPad.

Obviously there is nothing to watch until this Sunday.  I was just trying to sign in now to be sure I don't run into a problem this week.

Is this in some way expected right now?

I called.  The NFL Sunday Ticket specialist says the device apps like Roku and FireStick are not yet working, and will not work until the first day of the season.  i.e. they claim it is expected behavior until the first Sunday of the season, 12-Sep.

It's beyond me why they do not just put up that information when you try to sign in with the app, rather than indicate there is no such ID /password.  Or why you would direct me to uninstall and reinstall those apps (which I did) if this is simply an expected and known issue.

Here is what I found works after several hours of troubleshooting and finally finding the solution within another entry on the Forums:

1. Make sure the season has actually started - the first Sunday of the regular season.

2. Make sure you have  uninstalled and re-installed the NFL Sunday Ticket app on your device - this ensures that you have the latest version and might resolve other unrelated issues.

3. Make sure you can login via your PC or tablet or phone to the AT&T site to your primary AT&T account using your email address and password on a web browser.  Don't do this from the NFL Sunday Ticket app. (This confirms that your account login credentials are working.)

4. Now for the most critical part of all.

- I tried to login to NFL Sunday Ticket app on a tablet and on several Fire TV Sticks with valid AT&T account credentials. Every attempt to login using my AT&T account email and password resulted the following message:

"Looks like you are using the wrong login credentials. Remember, the NFLST app uses the user ID and password for your DirecTV or the NFLST.TV acccount that you used to purchase NFLST."

THE SOLUTION:

First, login to your AT&T account using a web browser and change your primary AT&T account email address to a different one that you own. Confirm you can login to this account with the new email and the same password as before. Then, go back to the Fire TV Stick (or tablet, or other device that you wish to run the NFL Sunday Ticket app) and login to the NFL Sunday Ticket app using this new email address and the same password you used before.

REASON:

Unclear - but it seems to be related to a situation where you need a unique username (email address) from what you might have used before to separate the login to your AT&T account vs. the DirecTV-merged account. Alternatively, it may be that the act of changing your primary email address re-syncs the credentials properly.

HOW DID I FIGURE THIS OUT:

I saw a couple of Forum messages buried within another login issue thread and I tried it.
