The Genie is a DirecTV box. So you should only have the Genie remote if you have a Genie to begin with. And if you have DIRECTV STREAM (where you posted) you cannot have any Genie equipment or remotes to begin with as that is for the satellite service only.
Either you are using the wrong name for something or you are trying to mix and match something that shouldn't go together.

The Genie remote is only for DirecTV boxes. If your power saver is on your TV you will need to use the remote that came with the TV.
