Direct TV customer passed away, how t close account

The surviving spouse usually has the ability to close the account. As a note, AT&T no longer has anything to do with DIRECTV because TPG has 30%. You’ll need to call DIRECTV (number in my greeting below) with all of your mother’s DIRECTV information (i.e. account number, billing and service address, account holder, receiver information, billing information, four digit passcode). Depending on what the agent states, be sure to inform them that your mother passed away and that you are trying to close the account. If the agent denies, you can then ask for the retention department if you weren’t transferred there already. As receivers are leased, you must go to a participating FedEx or UPS location with your mother’s DIRECTV account number to return the receivers. Satellite dishes and wires do NOT need to be returned. They are your mother’s property.
