Fraud

DirectTV has a major fraud issue they can’t seem to figure out. Customers of DirectTV are getting getting phone calls offering 50% off their current plans for 3 years. I knew this was to good to be true. I hung up the phone and immediately called DirectTV (which is a painful experience). They admitted to being aware of this scam but offered me no confidence they had a solution to fix it. Since this encounter my account has been a mess. Random charges/activity from DirectTV and charges to my credit card. When I try to get help from DirectTV they have no idea what is happening. They don’t even see the charges.

I’m now trying to contact someone at DirectTV who has the authority and ability to help. It’s been a useless effort so far. 

Be aware and my advise find another cable provider who protects their customers and provide better service

Not sure about the "random charges" and "credit activity", but these scams are not unique to DirecTV. It's all too easy for scammers to get enough information to fool folks into thinking these scams are legit. Good thing you realized it was a scam. Providers like DirecTV would love to shut these down. but there's really not much they can do.
