FS2 (618)
I am subscribed to the Sports Pack. However, every time I make an account change (e.g. adding Netflix to my bill), I lose channel 618 (Fox Sports 2). This is extremely annoying. How do I make sure my account is properly authorized so that I don't have to contact support every time I make a minor change to my account?

Since that is a repeating issue, normally you have to contact support to let them know. You might get contacted by official forum support to look into this. Either way I would expect they probably would have to escallate this through an in-house ticket of some kind.
The one thing you can try yourself when it happens, log into your account and under equipment do a refresh. This refreshes service authorizations to the box. However this doesn't solve the cause of the problem, only tries to push through what you should have.

You shouldn't lose access to channel 618 (FOX Sports 2) or have to contact support repeatedly if you're still subscribed to the DIRECTV Sports Pack, @mmaslar. A quick restart of your device after making any minor account changes moving forward should resolve the issue. Rhyan, DIRECTV Community Team

We've see this before haven't we? I was looking for a similar discussion in the last couple months or so to be sure.

@Juniper @baseballisback I've tried the receiver refresh. It doesn't usually help. Customer service usually has me do the receiver refresh and restart (which isn't ideal while shows are actively recording).
I've gotten pretty good at explaining to them that it needs to be reauthorized and that I've already tried the refresh / restart, and they can usually resolve it quickly. I just wish I didn't have to call them every time I purchase an add-on.

@DIRECTVhelp I agree that I shouldn't have to contact customer support each time I make a minor change to my account. I've found that the last two times it happened is when I added MLB Extra Innings to my account and changed my Netflix billing to DIRECTV. Seems if I make any change to my account online, I lose the authorization to channel 618. Something must be wrong with the way my account is authorized. Usually, customer service can resolve it quickly, but I'd like to be able to avoid contacting customer service every time I change an add-on.

@Juniper
Once again, we have official help misinterpreting the situation.
A restart shouldn't be required due to losing a channel whenever something is added. The new feature should automatically just appear.

Yep, that's just basic. Add a feature, get the new feature. Not have it remove something else in error each time.
Such a weird interaction. I cannot fathom how this happens. Will need an expert that can see the internals of the programming and account system to debug this oddity.

Yep, very odd. Especially since it’s only one channel that it happens to, and it’s the same one each time. I don’t lose any of the other Sports Pack channels. Only FS2.
