That is not good at all, unfortunately, we cannot help you here as we are all just customers just like you. You will need to contact Directv Customer service they are the only ones that can help you with this issue. Here is Directv's Customer Service phone number in case you need it.

Just don't go pay at a payment center!!! Paid mine at one Tuesday because it got suspended before my extension date of July 1. No big deal there BUT employee added an extra number to my account and paid 228.00 towards someone else's account. Needless to say 30 hours later still no service because supposedly I'm an (Edited per community guidelines) and don't think they have someone there who can flip a button and restore MY service. They have my $$$ and know they are transferring it to my account from the wrong account yet until payment is made no service for me. Imagine same scenario and you make a car payment and the company credits my car payment. They tow your car and tell you until they fix their mistake you can't have your car. I'm beyond livid at this point.

Historically their system blocks agents from reinstating service while there is a past due balance. DirecTV has no stores or payment centers of their own, so whatever 3rd party you dealt with really messed this up for you. (if AT&T store, those are still not DirecTV employees themselves).
In the past (days before AT&T), an agent may have gotten permission to do a one-time credit (for a billing error, not courtesy, retention, etc.) to bring the balance current putting it in a state they could reinstate. Once verified reinstated, that credit would be reversed (as still legitimately owed) but service would be on while the rest of it was finishing up. Don't know if they can still do that, but worth asking if it will still be some time until funds are transferred to the correct account.
Though you mention an "extra number". Were you paying DirecTV bill and they added a line to AT&T account? Or were you not dealing with DirecTV at all? If not DirecTV, then you are in the wrong forum.
