Name change on account

I need to change billing name on account. My husband has dementia and I need to change to his wifes name.

In case you haven't gotten the full answer yet:

You cannot change the name/ownership of the account. If your husband hadn't already listed you as an authorized user (one who can call in and make changes), you will need to see about submitting a Power of Attorney to DirecTV to do so.

Now the one exception is if sometime down the road your husband passes, you would get a choice. In that situation you either choose to keep account in your name or cancel it. A surviving spouse is the only one who can take over ownership of the account. This is because the account is tied to his name and SSN.
