I received a scam call this afternoon. They knew my name, address, ph # and wanted to offer half off for 2 years plus 5 free premium channels plus a $100 visa gift card. All I had to do was buy a $300 pre-payment Ebay gift card and call back tonight. I tried reporting the information to Direct TV to take some immediate action against these scammers, and was referred to their Fraud mgt organization. The fraud department could not take the call and all mail boxes are full. Direct TV needs to urgently improve their service on this very disturbing situation.

You are wasting your time reporting it to Directv. This scam has been around for years and the scammers are overseas, so there really isn’t anything Directv can do to stop them. Yes, it’s troubling that they have so much of your information but that is likely easily available on the dark web. I mean seriously, how hard is it to find your name, address and phone number. You don’t even need the dark web for that.

There is no "immediate action" that DirecTV can or will do in this situation. Scammers calling pretending to be someone else is not new. This scam with eBay gift cards has been around a few years. Since these scams pretty much originate out of country, it is away from anything DirecTV may do.
Simply put, it is not DirecTV's (nor any other company) responsibility to keep telling you beware there are pretenders in the world. It is up to you to be vigilant. And name/address/phone is info that is fairly easy to get for crooks or even legitimate businesses. Too many people give out that info freely. Doesn't have to be all in one spot, but crooks know where to look to piece together all the info they need.
