REFUND HAS NOT BEEN RECEIVED AS PROMISSED

service was in boat for several years.  sold boat May 2021 and cancelled service with a credit balance of $29.59.  I was told by you that I would get a refund.  no refund.  called multiple times and told its in the works.  still no refund.  I called today and told to call refund vendor.  vendor had no information on me.

this is no way to run a business.

Few possibilities on what is going on.

DirecTV as of a couple years ago no longer prorates the final bill. So if you had a credit balance showing, but had called at the start of your service month, the new bill may not have produced yet. This would have resulted in it going towards monthly services of your last bill.

If your final month of service was paid, I would review the statement after that. They send a courtesy statement to show $0 balance if paid in full, or any remaining balance if there were one-time charges to clear out the account (non-return fee, PPVs found on returned equipment, early cancellation fee, etc.). In that situation the credit would go towards those final charges.

Now if not either of the above situations, then the way it is supposed to work is that any remaining credit balance is auto refunded after 30 days from when the account canceled (not the day you called but from the service month ending as that is when cancellation goes through). Refund is in the form of a prepaid card.

If a manual refund request had to be done, that is reviewed by an internal department to approve or deny the request. Normally that is within 10 business days.

As long as credit balance was still there, and not taken by final bill or one-time charges clearing the account, very likely it is delayed like everything else because of the pandemic which resulted in many things taking longer to process as companies are short staffed. Calling DirecTV would verify if credit balance remained and was issued or if something used it up. If refund issued, but the vendor of the card has no record of it, I would consider a BBB/FCC complaint which hits the corporate level.
