DirecTV is service by their satellite. So changing internet service, or having no internet at all, doesn't affect your being able to have TV.
To cancel you call DirecTV and when you get the voice system say "cancel" to route you to the correct department. They require a live agent to discuss the process with you and to make a 'reasonable' save offer (it is their job after all).
Depends on the models of each of your boxes if you have to ship anything back. Also be aware cancellation goes through at the end of your service month. That means there is no proration on your final bill even if you stop using the service a couple days into the cycle. Following month from canceling you should get one more bill as a courtesy statement reflecting final payment received and $0 balance, unless there were any one-time charges to clear the account such as Early Cancellation Fee (ECF), Non-Return Fee (NRF) of any boxes, or unbilled PPVs.
