Streaming and installed dish
I have direct Rv at my home using a dish. I have no WiFi there. I now own a cottage at the beach with WiFi. I want to stream at my cottage and use the dish at my home. No one is at my home when we leave for cottage so they could turn off that receiver if need be so I could stream at the cottage. How can I work this out. Thanks jimmy

Well you can watch with the DIRECTV app on your phone or on a laptop. You can hook the laptop up to the TV via an HDMI cable. Unfortunately, that is the most you can do because DIRECTV is service by satellite and meant to work only with receivers and satellite and a $7.00 fee per TV.

Yes, you can login using our DIRECTV app with your credentials (User name & Password) and enjoy streaming in one device per account.
Please let us know if you have more questions, we are happy to help.

Probably not. First, a clarification is that DIRECTV (the satellite service, which you have) and DIRECTV stream (an Internet-only-streaming-service) which you apparently do not have, are two different things.
DIRECTV has an app for mobile devices (i.e. phones and tablets) that will let you watch some content you are authorized for via having a DIRECTV satellite subscription. The DIRECTV App does not run on Smart TVs or streaming devices. Thus, you will not be loading a DIRECTV App on your Samsung SmartTV.
DIRECTV stream has an app for mobile devices, and (certain) SmartTVs (including several by Samsung), and Streaming devices (e.g. Roku, FireTV Stick, AppleTV, etc.). Which is lovely if you have DIRECTV stream service, but is meaningless if you have a DIRECTV satellite subscription.
I believe that both will allow you to stream to a PC as well, but you need to be sure to go to the right place to do so based on your service (satellite vs. stream).
I hope that clears things up some.

Please let me clarify that even though you can stream using the DIRECTV app, this one only works on Phone App or iPad/Tablet App and not in Smart TVs; The only app available for Smart TVs is our DIRECTV STREAM app which is a separate service from DIRECTV Satellite.
Also you can follow the process that @detuch254 shared, this requires that you use a laptop and hook it up to your TV with a HDMI cable to watch DIRECTV online.

So in my case I would have to have 2 accounts with direct since I don’t have WiFi at my home. If I did get both accounts, on stream and the other using a dish could I suspend the one I’m not using and actually just pay for 1 account?? Thanks jimmy

The DirecTV app is not available for smart TVs, Roku, Firestick, or any other TV-only streaming device.
What you probably saw was DIRECTV STREAM. That is a different provider, what used to be called AT&T TV or AT&T TV NOW, and even before that DIRECTV TV NOW. Naturally that naming has caused confusion.
You want DirecTV on a TV, then you connect to satellite dish and pay the $7 TV fee. The DirecTV app is only for mobile devices (smart phone or tablet) and does not allow casting to TV.
The only workaround as mentioned, is laptop connected to TV or other such external monitor.

Yes, based on your initial message, I recommend you to open a DIRECTV STREAM account. You can do here and yes, you can put your Satellite account in vacation mode (Suspension) for up to 9 months; If you wish we can move this conversation to Direct Message and I can help you with that procedure.
Thank you!

Last I heard DTV sat only allows a 6 month suspension per 12 month period.

@DIRECTVhelp
Andres, suspension is max 6 months within a 12-month period. Have to be active at least half a year's worth or you aren't a customer.
