771 - Transponder issue?

Half of my channels are not working on 3 TV's. I checked the transponders and they show 0 99 0 99 0 98 0 99, etc with the lowest value of 74 except for the 0 values. this also shows that 1/2 of my transponders are not working.  I DO NOT have HD service -due to line of sight problem - but am being charged for it. Currently have D12 boxes which have new access cards which were working fine until 2 days ago. Is there anything I can do to correct this issue?

Usually this points to a problem with the dish cable, coax connector, dish LNB or multiswitch. How many D12s do you have? Could it be snow on your dish?

Did you know that this box is obsolete is DirecTV is discontinuing their standard definition services? You'll need to upgrade to HD equipment. With the new Slimline dish the 3 satellites are pretty close together (99, 101 and 103ºW), so you might be OK with line of sight.

Tks for the info.  Yes, I am aware that the receivers are being retired, but they recently sent me new access cards to continue my service (and even another D12 receiver). AT&T hasn't stated that I can't have HD service (because of line of site problems), but it has been hinted to by the contractor tech's they've been sending. They sent the HD receivers and I attempted to connect them, even had tech's out to do it, but the service can't be guaranteed to work, because of trees, so I sent them back. But THAT issue has been an ongoing issue with AT&T since August, with them NEVER telling me it's NOT going to happen. ---  However, this transponder problem is the NEWEST inconsistent service problem. After sending me NEW access cards recently, they STILL never told me my service will be discontinued due to the retirement of equipment NOR that they will NEVER be able to provide service to me. BUT they continue to bill me full price for inconsistent service. Guess it's time to find another provider that will WORK in my location.

Nope, DTV is shutting down the MPEG2 SD channels making the D12 and round dishes obsolete.

BTW - no outside snow/ice at-the moment.  Last storm was a week ago, and still had service during and after the storm. New satellite was installed last July and I believe it to be a Slimline, as the tech at the time told me it will work with HD. It shows as 101 degrees (A) on the transponder page.

Tks shannon02. I can accept that, but it sure would be nice if AT&T would EXPLAIN this to me, instead of taking my monies and providing such horrible service.  You'd think they would treat their 20+ year customers better than this.

The D12 will not get the HD channels or the HD sats, you need MPEG4 HX OR HRXX or the new HS17 Genie2 receivers to get the HD sats provide you do have a slimline dish.

Do you have a multiswitch? What you are reporting used to be a very common problem. It's normally caused by a fault in oner of the cables/connectors.  If you have two cables from the dish, swap them at the multiswitch and see if the priblem moves to the odd numbered transponders.
