Additional DVR storage space
Ma'am/Sir; good (late) evening...Hoping all is well. My name is Kelvin of VA. I'm hoping you can assist me with television shows I've recorded. My recording disk is almost full. I would like to know if there's a device/and or additional disk space I can purchase to allow me to continue record my favorite programs??? Any help/assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated!...Thanks in advance...Vr/Kelvin

Yes you can purchase an external Esata enclosure with a SATA drive and fan to replace the internal hard drive unless you have an HR54R1 that doesn't have the ESATA port to plug one into.
weaknees.com can replace the internal drive with a larger one and even transfer the existing recordings but if this is done then you have to go through them for service unless you want to lose the larger drive by returning it to DTV.

HDDVRs thru model HR24 have a max internal of 500GB. They have a hard cap of 2TB for external.
Genie (HR34, HR44, HR54) have 1TB internal. Was initially suggested up to 4TB external, but there is no official hard cap. Others have used 12TB or more successfully, though I find that a bit much.
Revised 3rd generation Genie (HR54R1) has no eSATA port, so doesn't support an external.
The Genie-2 (HS17) server tower has 2TB internal. Same as regular Genie line when it comes to external hard drive support. If you don't already have this model, I wouldn't suggest "upgrading" to it per some restrictions in design.

Thanks to @shannon02 for providing some great information to assist you.
In addition, make sure the external hard drive is compatible with the receiver.
