Antenna channels no longer recognized
All of a sudden my DirecTV no longer recognizes my antenna and I want the channels restored. They were formally under the TV source. How do I get them back? There is no longer an option to check the antenna, just satellite.

Do you have an AM21 tuner?

Turning the input to TV does nothing. There are no channels listed and the antenna is not recognized at all by DirecTV.
I don't know what an AM21 tuner is.

The AM21 and the newer LCC is used to combined the OTA channels into the DTV guide so you can watch and record them. What is the model number of the DTV receiver?

Are you talking about local channels through the DirecTV box (so in the guide with your DirecTV channels)? Or are you talking about locals received with a regular over-the-air (OTA) antenna that is connected to the TV set itself?

They are local channels received OTA that is connected to the TV through DirecTV. I was able to switch to TV as the source and choose what channel I wanted to watch. Now there are no channels listed.

Changing to the TV source means the antenna is connected to the TV set itself, not the DirecTV box. The input/source is a physical input (HDMI-1, HDMI-2, ANT, etc.).
So I would check the cable from your OTA antenna and verify where it is plugged in. If connected to the DirecTV box, what model box do you have and how is it connected?

The HR44 nor any other DTV receivers except the very old ones don't have an OTA tuner so it never could get them, so don't know how this happened.

Strange because it was working just fine until the past few days. I have a technician coming to work on it or replace the receiver which keeps resetting.

No the HR44 won't receive OTA signals, it does not even have a connector. I think the OP must be confused about something.

The fellow who installed it had it set up to receive OTA channels using DirecTV.

Since there is no way that the HR44 can receive OTA channels without an AM21 or LCC then the tech was a magician.

You can't receive OTA channels on an HR44 unless you have an AM21 or an LCC and there the cable from the antenna goes to the LCC or AM21 not to the HR44. And you don't select TV because the OTA channels are integrated into the HR44 guide. You must be selecting "TV" on the TV itself and if the OTA antenna isn't connected to the TV you will of course get no OTA channels at all.
