Are Directv programmers even capable of changing the software on the HD boxes (not Genie).

Can the programmers change the way the remote/boxes do things?  Are they set in stone?  Because there are many things I would like added/changed.  Some features are missing that used to be on the old Hughes boxes that I would like to see on the HD boxes.

Yes, the software can be changed. But it's very unlikely anything will be added or changed on these older boxes unless someone discovers a catastophic fault.

I don't understand why DirecTV doesn't want to improve their software.  Maybe if their software was more up to date they would have more customers.  Even the online guide is messed up.  I should be able to see exactly what my favorites 1 and favorites 2 have.  Color Coded for each type of program, News, Sports, Movies, etc.

Auto Tune should be on the EXACT hour!  NOT 30 seconds before which makes you miss the last 30 seconds of the program currently watching.

I guess the programmers/and execs don't care what their customers want!
