auto recording on demand

That’s weird. If you record directly from the Guide on a satellite channel, the DVR should automatically JUST record that series on THAT satellite channel. There should be no on-demand recordings involved.

Do all shows being recorded have this issue? What channels do you see this behavior occurring on? (Or is it all) 

Has this been an issue in the past? What is the receiver model?

The receiver is less than a year old, it's the one that looks like a tower.

I think it has always done it, but it seems to have gotten worse lately.

There were a couple of programs that I used to have set to record on our old system & had forgotten to setup on this one. When I did it Monday evening, there were 10 of each program recorded on Tuesday morning!

Very frustrating! It does other stupid stuff too, like if I pause a program, when I go back to play it again, you can hear the program running in the background but the pause screen is still visible!

I'm kicking myself for getting locked in for 2 years, I'm ready to toss this thing in the dump!

That is an HS17 Genie2.  Try a red button reset.

That was the first thing I tried the end of last week.

There is another thread on here with several people complaining about the same thing from 4 years ago.

The HR44-HS17 use a different software version where DTV added the binge watcher feature that uses the search function to record all channels and On Demand for that show and using the Guide to record only that channel and time.

@shannon02 , can that be shut off? Is it automatically like that, because I don't remember turning it on.
