Being told that the H26k receiver is discontinued....
Is it true that the H26k receiver is being discontinued? We just had an installer out to add 2 more receivers to one of our customers bars and they brought H44 boxes and said the H26k is no longer going to be made and it was discontinued. This seems crazy to me. Please if you know anything, comment and tell me i'm not going crazy or this guy was not telling me the truth.....

Hadn't heard anything about that model being discontinued.
From my understanding the H26K is commercial/business only as it is a standalone receiver (non-DVR) but supports 4K. Being replaced with the H44 (Genie Lite) is unusual, especially since you said "boxes" when only a single Genie/Genie Lite/Genie-2 is authorized to be on an account as they don't work with multiple as they function as a server for Clients (Mini Genie, Gemini, or RVU TV/DirecTV Ready TV).
Now for the bulk of boxes, they aren't mass producing new ones regardles of model. Everthing is heavily refurbished these days. With the new owner of DirecTV (since AT&T is out the TV service) the equipment direction for DirecTV is up in the air.
So I suspect the installer was speaking more in half-truths. Some of it may be baed in fact but was probably mixed with a lot of expectation and rumor than solid info.
