Can’t connect Alexa to genie minis

All of the Directv genies are discovered and listed in the Alexa app, even old receivers that we no longer have. But in the Directv skill I can only link to the main receiver (or the old receiver that used to be in that room). There is no option to link an Alexa device to the minis in other rooms.

While I know nothing about Alexa I do know that minis are nothing but remote controls for the Genie so I don't know if Alexa needs to control minis when it is controlling the Genie.

I saw the genie mini on a list of supported devices on the Directv Alexa skill page: Genie (HR44, HR54) and Genie Mini's (C31, C41, C41W, C51, C61, C61K, C61W)

The main receiver is HR54 and the mini clients are C61 and C41. I can control the main HR54 with an echo dot. I want to control the C61 mini client with a different echo. I just can’t figure it out. It does show in my Alexa device list, but not when I go to the Directv skill settings.

Hello @RedByte! Thank you for reaching out.

Please tell us, when trying to connect your genie mini to the Alexa device, do you get any error message?

Make sure you have the latest version of the software on the device. To enable your skill, clear your cache, and then sign in again with the right ID and password.

We hope this helps.

No error messages. It was automatically discovered and added to my list of devices in my house. However, it doesn’t show at all inside the DirecTV skill where you setup the linking. That only shows the HR54 and an old HR44 that we don’t even have anymore.

We're here to help @RedByte. Now let's 'get you DIRECTV GENIES connect to you Alexa app..

You can use more than 1 Alexa device to control a single TV (i.e., a single DIRECTV device). But you can’t use 1 Alexa device to control multiple TVs (i.e., multiple DIRECTV devices). Here is some additional info on DIRECTV for Alexa.

Please let us know if this helps.
